In the interest of recycling and upcycling to prevent filling our small island home with trash and waste, and in not wasting precious fossil fuels in having new items shipped here, I am publishing this ongoing “wishlist” of items that would be helpful to my endeavors. Many of the things listed may be items that you have but no longer use, or that you’d otherwise throw away! If you have any of these items that you are willing to part with, please contact me.
General bits and pieces:
shredded paper (for compost and chicken bedding)
newspaper
Wood shavings and sawdust (from untreated wood)
Egg boxes
Plastic shopping bags to re-use
Kitchen scraps (fresh or frozen: fed to chickens and tortoises, any excess is composted).
Kitchen stuff:
Large cooking pots - 2 gallon or larger - with or without lids
Cast iron (plain or enamel) dutch oven 5 quart or larger
Building materials:
Scrap lumber - 1″x 2″ and up - used for chicken coops, retainers, scaffolds and other odd projects.
Tools:
Large axe for splitting wood
